South Gate United Methodist Church is a congregation of caring Christians seeking spiritual growth and wholeness through worship, education, and faith in action; caring for all of God's creation, and sharing God's love in our local and global communities.
South Gate is a family, where everyone is welcome. We have educational programs and fun activities for all ages. We gather here to worship, study the Bible, serve others and be in fellowship.
Our services are traditional but informal. Children are welcome and a special message just for them is included in our worship time. A nursery is also available. Music is an important part of our worship using traditional hymns, performances from our vocal choirs (we have 4) and our handbell choirs. We celebrate the joys of our congregation and minister to those facing illness and life challenges. Communion is served the first Sunday of each month and all are invited to partake of the sacrament.
We believe in serving God by serving our neighbors. Each month we focus on a specific mission project such as the Lincoln Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, LPS Backpack Program, UNICEF and Friendship Home. Children are taught about giving to others in Sunday School with a special mission project during advent. We also support mission through our giving to United Methodist organizations such as the United Methodist Commission on Relief, which provides disaster assistance around the world.
