Comforting Celebrating Consoling Congratulating Caring Connecting

The mission of Strands of Love is to provide an opportunity and avenue to respond with love, service, and support to members of South Gate UMC’s faith community.

In its three years of existence, Strands of Love has blessed 156 comfort wraps and baptismal shawls. These wraps enfold many prayers, much love, and wonderful stitches. Some of the commissioned wraps have made their way to Montana, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Iowa, Virginia, Louisiana, as well as many Nebraska locations.

The group has included an ad hoc member in Beatrice, the efforts of nine members of the Youth Mission Trip as they learned to knit, and 16 South Gate members. The group meets Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. in the Rose Room. You do not have to know how to knit to join—we will teach you and share the comforting response to gather to support others.
