South Gate UMC officially celebrated its 35th Anniversary on Sunday, April 25, 1999. This celebration was held in conjunction with Heritage Sunday, a day set aside by the Conference to recognize our
heritage as United Methodists. The Worship/Music Committee put together a morning filled with special touches that focused on our 35 years of ministry as a congregation.
There were special displays reflecting our beginnings as a congregation and our history as United Methodists. A reception was held following each worship service, complete with anniversary cake and punch. Displays in Memorial Hall featured some pictures from our past.
The Evangelism Committee helped kick-off the celebration on April 11, when they gave recognition ribbons to anyone who had been a member of a Methodist and/or EUB congregation for 35 years. They offered and continue to offer the Mug Ministry's new 35th Anniversary Commemorative mugs for sale as a memento of our celebration.
The South Gate family celebration of 35 wonderful years was a great event. Some pictures taken during the event follow.
